Depends on definition of abuse...
I'm sure Brad and Angeline (whatever their names are) have great intentions of being great parents, but they are always on the go being in the public eye. That means someone else is raising them. Now granted they do a lot of public eye stuff with them so who knows...Any way, the point I was making with that is this is an example of good intentions gone wrong. Children are high maintenance and people have difficulty just attending school for advancement, let alone a full time job to make ends meet to support their children. So neglect, with good intentions is a form of abuse.
Something as horrid as sexual abuse is sometimes obvious, sometimes not. It could be just the fact that one of the partners has a hidden agenda in adopting or has a past that is reflected onto the children.
Thus leading the plain, yelling, belittling, hitting form of abuse that people expect when they see the words "child abuse". This is just so vague a wide of a spectrum (as far as the types, and reasons) that they can't all be listed. But some of which I will list here:

M / F (The Mother and/or Father) are sterile and resent that other can have children

One wanted it, the other didn't, resentment over the domineering other

A parent of M / F had abusive parents and can't see that their tactics are wrong, just doing what they were taught.

as child, M / F grew with no self esteem and is constant target of ridicule and is taking it out now on new child

Financial burden

New child not as expected as far as maintenance/raising and attempt to convert to their way, no matter what.

M / F are starting to stress over schedules of life and feel child is the difference between a life of togetherness or being seperated.

chemical imbalance/ mental health.

It's just their way of life...

Some family smell like roses in public but do a 180 in private.

They "feel" their life is out of control, so they are going to control you.

This could go on and on, it can be more complex than these or simpler than these. They can also be something not even thought of, the bottom line is, something is triggered that causes them to react to you. You could be the A student, 4-H, Super Jock but do something as drop a sock on your way to your room from the laundry and next thing you know you are a sparring partner against you parent(s).

My advice, get a job, open a secret account, save up your money, and as soon as you hit graduation, go to a dorm life college...
[somewhere, FAR away, and secluded where there are a low number of students, this provides better friendships and great late night gab sessions with ice cream and tissues :) .I highly recommend this first, just remember to study and keep passing grades so you can stay as long as needed so you can transfer when you feel like moving to a college thats more fitting for what you want to do the rest of your life. P.S. stay away from the drugs, you are trying to find, not lose yourself.]
...and try to do something for yourself, or take that money out and get an apartment ASAP. Counseling may be a consideration but most find they sharing their grief is better than talking to someone that you pay to listen to you, If already graduated, still, open an account, save up, and get out, and start trying to heal mentally from the abuse...(Or go to college any way!) Good Luck, it wont be easy, but for some, its such a freedom, that its addicting instantly.
Again, Good Luck!

They shouldn't but they do. They probably really want kids, but they have no parenting skills and end up hurting the children. They should be grateful and thankful that they were allowed to adopt a child.Hopefully, if the child was being abused, the child would tell someone, no one deserves to be abused, only loved and treated with respect.

You need to report it ASAP. And no, you can't just adopt the child. There's a lot of paperwork involved, as well as court hearings and home studies. Plus, there will be attempts made to reunite the child with their parents before the kid's available for adoption. If the child is being abused, why are you on Yahoo answers rather then reporting it! You should have done that before coming here! I understand you don't what this kid to end up in the system.

abusive parents shouldn't be able to adopt because they do many different types of background checks!!! If you know someone that is being abused either mentally, physically, emotionally, or verbally then you should report it! No child deserves to be abused!!! I don't care if the child is a runaway or the biggest brat on earth...abusing children is never justified!!!

They are probably not aware that they are abusive. And everyone has a different idea of abuse. If you are being abused, please, tell an adult (teacher, councilor, neighbor, anyone) Maybe this is the way they were raised and don't know any different. It is hard to say without knowing the situation.

because they may not think they are abusive and also so they can feel the power they have over a child. parents are big, children are little, parents are right, children are wrong, kids have to do what their parents say. its all about power
