hey nikita.. its .doc as my buds above have said.. and to open ur MY COMPUTER.. use
WINDOWS KEY + E and it opens up the explorer..

Word can now be in 2 different extensions, depending on your version. Normally it is a .doc but the latest version of Office uses .docx. To open this on an older system you need to get the viewer from Microsoft. I don't know about a shortcut key to My computer though.

For Word 2007 the default file extension is .docx
For Word 2003 and earlier the default file extension is .doc
You have various options as well when saving a Word document. If you select the Save As a droplist appears. You can save it as an .rtf file extension for example.

".doc" You must enable Display File Extensions in Windows Explorer (Tools > Options) to see them.
The My Documents shortcut is the folder in the Start Menu or on the Desktop, if using the Classic desktop.
