Not at all! Most of the subs I know are actually very strong, secure, independent people. For a lot of people, being submissive sexually is a stress release...... you spend almost every hour of every day being held accountable for your actions, having to take on one responsibility after another and sometimes having that much control (or needing to have that much control) can be very taxing, so giving over power and control to another person is a welcome relief.
Submissives aren't this way because they're too weak to fight back or stand up for themselves. They make a conscious decision to freely put their trust, their bodies, and their minds in someone else's hands for a while. Some people even believe that the submissive is actually the partner in control, since in most healthy relationships the "rules" of the relationship are set by the submissive's boundaries.

Absolutely not! Many submissives are actually very strong, independent people who enjoy giving up their control for a short time during "play" Many of us have highly stressful jobs with a great amount of responsibility, and tend to be quite dominant in the "real" world. It's a great stress relief to be able to just let go and slip into a fantasy world, for however short a time that may be.

It depends on the situation. If you seek to be in a submissive role, than it's acting out a fantasy & not related to your character. But, if you're in a destructive relationship & being submissive is necessary to avoid violence, then you are probably feeling insecure & afraid.

For a few it may be..it may be one of those exception to the rules kind of things...for the most part most subs are very in charge in their day to day activites, it helps them let go when in a sub role, almost like a vacation for the mind. In most bdsm play, the sub actually has lot more power than what some think, they set the limits, are able to say stop, mercy etc.

This question can be interpreted in many different ways. I don't think character is based on the position you take in sex. That may be a preference. I think it is a matter of the position you take on various issues in life and how your self-esteem is and self-confidence. People can take different positions in different areas of life. It would suggest a complex character, not a person easy to pin down.
