I'm looking to go on holiday to a Greek Island. I want somewhere where I can go self-catering. Nowhere near any 'nightlife' (nightclubs), but hopefully with some good/authentic restaurants nearby. Quiet and authentic. But also, where there are good nudist beaches (again, away from the typical tourist scene). Any ideas please? How can one choose one island from another?

You can try very small islands, like Koufonisia (Cyclades). Everything you are looking for is right there. However, in the past 2-3 years it has been crowded, because many people are seeking for alternative vacation. I suggest you should avoid August, if you want it to be really quiet. You can see some pics on Google earth. Have fun.

I would recommend Skiathos. I have visited the island numerous times. It is a very beautiful island, with not extreme nightlife and with very beautiful scenery's. It has a nudist beach called 'banana beach' and I've heard it is nice but i haven't visited it myself. You can find good restaurants there too. Nice holidays!!!

If nudity and a sun-drenched whitewashed paradise is the lure then go to the beach of the same name; Paradise Beach on Mykonos. There is something for everybody be it nightlife or just relaxing in a stress free environment. The beach scene is a combination of topless and fully nude- to each their own.

almost in every island there are nudist beaches some are better than others. the ones i can think off are in Antiparos island near the camping and in Evia island the Hiliadou beach.

Antiparos has a nice nudist beach I think. Its a small island with a very pretty village although there are bars there too. It is also very close to Paros island.

The Greeks can be a wee bit funny about nudity! Go to Crete, look up my mate Mixalis and he will let you take yer kit off out his back door! And I will see you in september!

I don't recall if this site has specific info on nude beaches, but it DOES have some fantastic information on the islands that can help you choose a destination.

Nudity is illegal, though most islands have a beach where it's tolerated. Just be sensible.
