Last weekend I tried to get more input on this section. It didn't last long cos you've all disappeared again, please come back and talk to us.
To start the ball rolling once again. I've thought of a question.
How do use vinegar other than sprinkling on your chips?
My favourites are.
small amount added to marinade to tenderise meat.
Non smear window and glass cleaner
Add a cup to kettle, boil and leave to stand over night, rinse well, and all the rock deposits are gone. I do that once a week.

Thanks for comment Robert, but the idea is to encourage more seniors to use this page as an aid to bridging the generation gap. So it's not really about food. If that is your photo you probably have some knowledge to share as well. We do enjoy a laugh to so how about you start one going? x

No traveller not just food, I mean anything in the world anyone has to say.I just used vinegar as an example, other suggestions; what you laughed at?bought in town?a senior moment maybe? Have you got an ambition you'd like to achieve? travel?
I just think that there must be loads of older people out there that have something to share. Maybe the younger ones might be able to give us seniors some advice too, after all they are the next generation and we should leave them something to think about when we are gone.

The seniors are out there, but this site is so well hidden, I'm sure most of them don't even know it exists. Perhaps we should 'spam' some of the other sites with a message that says, "Hey, seniors, if you to through Society and Culture, Cultures and Groups, and click on Seniors, there is a web page for you guys. Only it isn't high school seniors (enough about senior proms!!!)
Other than letting people know this site is here, I'm not sure there's much you can do. With or without vinegar.

I put a half vinegar, half water solution in a spray bottle and use it to clean the counters and sinks (I have birds, so any chemical cleaners could be deadly to them). I'm going to try putting vinegar in with my carpet steam cleaner - instead of those expensive carpet shampoos - and see if that works to clean my carpet. It's supposed to neutralize odors, and since I also have stupid cats that don't always use their litter box, I hope it works. I've noticed that it does work for odors when you pour it straight into the carpet in the spot where the animals have "gone."
If there are musty odors in the laundry, I put a half cup to a cup in the rinse water, and the laundry smells fine when it comes out. This works better than deodorizing fabric softener or color-safe bleach.
Oh, and in the spring and summer we have a huge problem with little black ants. Again, no chemical sprays because of the birds, so I can't call an exterminator. I've tried every other "safe" method of deterring ants, but none has worked. Now when I see a line of ants, I zap the heck out of them with the vinegar spray (it's supposed to get rid of their scent trail), and then find the source where they're coming in and very lightly spray it with ant poison. That has vastly improved the ant problem since last year!
And a couple of times I've felt evil and have put a tiny amount in a cup (like half an inch) and left it on the counter. Inevitably, one of my kids will wander in and curiously take a sip, and it's fun to see their face when it happens! It's non-toxic, and everyone ends up laughing, even my little "victim." Hee hee

I would go to the Food & Drink section. All the seniors I know tell me to go to the food section for good recipies. These are the things I do. I visit them at there houses or apartments. I fix there houses for free. I help them garden, and get groceries. I visit them in the hospital, and have been there when some have died. The seniors I know don't have computers, and can hardly afford food and meds.

I think if its building a community you want to do, Yahoo! Groups or a senior-specific forum is what you need.
I do use vinegar to clean my car windshield sometimes.

I've used it as a pain reliever much the way the ancient people used it. I made my own once when I acquired some home made wine.

I use it (diluted 50/50) to wash my floors, clean walls. I use it to clean out the coffee maker. Try it and you'll be amazed at the crap that builds up in there. I use it in my dishwasher. It really helps. They come out nice and shiny.

Did you mean tips about kitchen only? I think we should make it more broad-based. I liked the one about salt and veggies though.
