Do you remember the movie "The brood" back in the late 70's early 80's?

I was a kid but not sure what it was about. It was a mother who use to have her offspring externally and by biting the placenta wth her mouth and the brood would be born. Do you know where I can get this move or explain more about it? I was very young in those days so more info the better.

...in one of director DavidCronenberg's most ugly and bizarro films, an unorthodoxed psychiatrist (Oliver Reed) is treating a woman (Samantha Egger), who is reportedly having difficulties expressing her rage; in the meantime, loved ones around her are dying quite graphically and mysteriously (one victim's death by a large wooden meat tenderizer was particularly disturbing), and her precocious young daughter is repeatedly found battered and bruised. In the midst of attempting to solve this mystery, the doctor finds how exactly how the disturbed woman express her anger: her rage is manifested through the birth of a 'brood' of ugly, mutated and homicidal offspring, wrought from a monstrous sac attached to her side; in the film's most ugly and perverse scene, the woman, in freeing yet another child from her horrific-looking womb, she quite literally chews through the umbilical cord and placenta, and proceeds to lick bloody mess from the newborn.

MGM released a beautiful print of the film on DVD.

ha! after i read the first line of your question where you mentioned "The Brood," an immediate image of that placenta biting popped into my mind. then i opened your full question and see that you mentioned that very same thing!

all i remember (other than that scene) is that i thought it was weird and gross, i loved every minute of it, and it was made by David Cronenberg--which explains why it is so gross and weird. many of his films are like that.
