I know that many ebay sellers make money by selling overstock, discontinued, catalog returns, liquidated, and lost freight merchandise. I know many such sellers sell great brands like Pottery Barn, things from Macy's stores, etc. What I want to know is, how do they get this merchandise, must they possess a business license to buy it, and must they make a minimum purchase? Also, do they buy by the piece, or in a lot, and can they see the items before they buy them? I am interested in doing this myself, and can't find reliable info.

It sounds like you are looking for a dropshipping venture. My own research has brought me two excellent resources but you do need to be in business with tax id #.

The first is www.worldwidebrands.com
The second is www.dropshipdirect.com
