Cox is the better manager as he was terrific in Toronto in the 80s and outstanding in the 90s/00s with the Braves. Winning a division over 162 games is the toughest thing to do and he did it 14 straight times from 1991-2005! Yes he had talent, but they lost their share of free agents over the years (Justice, Glavine, Maddux, etc.) and he still held them together.
Winning championships isn't the only gage of comparing managers. Yes, Torre has four to Cox's one, but if Cox had Mariano Rivera all those years, the totals might be reversed.
Plus if you ever watch the two closely, Cox is into every pitch and every play, while Torre looks like he's asleep. They are different personalities, of course, but I just like the intensity of Cox.
And I'm even a Yankees fan, and I hate the Braves, and this opinion has nothing to do with the fact the Yanks are struggling right now. Jesus Christ couldn't win with that bunch with all of the injuries and problems they have.

I think the consecutive division titles from Bobby Cox should answer this question fairly easily. Also, Bobby Cox has been an integral part in developing the majority of his star players, unlike Joe Torre who has been handed All-Star after All-Star to build a team upon. How would Bobby Cox have faired with those same "gifts"??? Booby Cox is the obvious choice here, no question.

If it was 5 years ago, I would easily say Joe Torre.

But now look at the Yankee's. They suck! Don't disagree because it's true.

Bobby Cox will easily go into the Hall of Fame. He's been with the Braves since 1977. And before that, he was actually a first-base coach for the Yankees.

So BOBBY COX.

Bobby Cox. Cox actually does something, and not sit around like Torre does. I really like watching the Yankees lose, right now.

Bobby Cox by far. He gets his team to the playoffs by making smart decisions. He takes what he's got for a team then using it to get to the playoffs. Joe Torre looks good behind billions of dollars in player salaries. Now those super over paid stars, suck. He can't get the club to bounce back. So for your next question ask people. When is Joe Torre going to get fired?

It's Joe Torre. He's got 4 world series rings vs. Cox's 1. Torre has got a lot of history, he's a great manager. Nobody better.

Yea, that's why Torre has 4 rings, and how many does Cox have, oh that's right 1. When Cox wins 3 more rings, and gets a legacy like Torre's then I'll consider him AS GOOD as Torre.

Tony la Russa is the extra proper supervisor. With the Yankees interior the mid ninety's, Torre became put in a difficulty the place any supervisor would've succeeded. Bobby Cox became given a large number of expertise besides with the Braves interior the 1990's. even while dealing with huge injuries to megastar gamers and occasional expertise communities, Tony la Russa continuously manages to mentor a large team of youthful gamers and mildew them right into a aggressive group twelve months after twelve months. it is unlucky that the 0.33 best group interior the national league this twelve months (the taking part in cards) will probable no longer make the playoffs.

Cox, definately. Torre is very overrated as a manager. Look at that payroll and roster he always has.
