If it is frosting up, the problem is in the defrost system. There are only 3 parts to that system, and one is bad. There is a timer, that puts it into a defrost, an element that actually heats to defrost, and a "defrost thermostat" that keeps a defrost cycle from making the refrigerator too hot. Fist thing to do is find the timer. Then, turn the knob(may take a large bladed flathead screwdriver to do this) until you hear a click. The compresor will go off, and after a few minutes, listen inside for a hissing sound. If you hear a hissing, you know that the element and thermostat are good, as that is the sound of defrosting. But beware, you MAY NOT hear that sound, with both still good. Now, wait 30 minutes, and come back to the fridge. Is the compressor running? if so, the timer is good, and either the element or thermostat are bad. If it is NOT running, turn it again, slowly and see if it clicks and starts the compressor. If so, the timer is definately the problem.

1. Its possible that the thermostat (sensor) is broken.
2. It is also possible for the heater to that is responsible defrosting has malfunctioned.
3.The timer in the fridge that turns the heater on and off is broken.
