ive got the year 11 dinner dance comming up im not shure what to wear its states us to wear semi formal, whats semi formal? i dnt want to look to dressy could u give me some examples nd btw i live in australia. thnx

Semi formal means a little formal and a little casual. You do not want to turn up in a full gown, scarf, handbag, heels, up do and all. But maybe the dress Amanda Bynes wore in She's The Man when she went to the debutante party. Something casual but is also accepted in a restaraunt.

Hmmm...year 11 dinner-dance sounds just like the Junior Prom over here in the States. Here, it is a big to-do, and people get dressed up very formally! It is evening gowns and tuxedos. If the invitation says formal, I would go formal! Girls here get their hair done professionally, too. Try to ask other girls what they plan to wear; if there is one thing high school girls here love to do, it is talk about their prom dresses! Google "prom dress" and you will see!

semi formal means a cocktail length dress. knee or below. not a prom legnth.
