first off just a little FYI, so there is no confusion.
1089 kHz = 1.089 Mhz
AM = amplitude modulation
FM = Frequency modulation

AM radio spectrum spans from 535 kHz to 1.6 mHz so naturally you can pick those up.


and the FM radio frequency spectrum spans from 88.000 MHz to 108.000 Mhz. we can pick up and broadcast any radio transmissions in here too.

however the band of radio spanning from basically 1 MHZ to 50 Mhz is sometimes used for amature radio and also the FCC regulates these frequencies. so bands spanning in here wont usually be available to the common person.

are you sure you didn't mean 88MHZ instead? just asking.
