do they think it doesn't happen or do they want to act as if it doesn't.... why are we said to be "Complaining" when we talk about it, yet they don't say that to people mentioning the holocaust, why should we forget slavery, but no one has to forget 911, why are people so negative in their comments about us "whining" and "complaining" about something we "didn't go through" yet most people mentioning the holocaust or 911 didn't go through it either, belive it or not people seem to not care if they are racist and it shows, atleast online they don't, who knows how fake and scary they are in reality

and also, believe it or not we are still experiencing the backlash of slavery... the ghettos aren't mostly black and the surburbs mostly white for no reason, it's from the injustice and inequality that still exist GREATLY...it's what the flag represents, it's what AMERICA represents

to mightycrib?: welfare is mostly white, that i'm sure you do know, or you've been in a cave, and prisons you do know black people get longer sentences for the same crime as whites, and some whites especially rich ones don't ever go to jail, some may go to the crazy house instead or community service, so that's why most may be black in prison, and you know they refuse dna result to over %50 of black prisoners when it came out

HERE IS WHAT YOU ALL DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT USING THE WORD N***GA/ER. YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT, that's the point you don't have the right to use. BLACKS are known for semantic inversion, that WORD coming from someone OTHER than someone BLACK evokes a totally different meaning for us, when said by you all who are not BLACK it;s underlying meaning is dubious to say the least
,we DO NOT TRUST YOU WHEN YOU SAY IT! so don't try and justify using it because some of us use it, at best you DON"T HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE IT.

the holocaust was not worse, I'm sorry it wasn't, over 10 MILLION of our pple were either killed or carted off around the world, so don't even go there.

for one thing the holocaust didn't last for centuries, and it didn't happen in AMERICA either, but Black enslavement, guess what happened right here.

of course you WOULD try and deflect responsibility by saying that Africans sold Africans, but guess what? OMG, they were war captives!!! that was their form of punishment, to be INDENTURED SERVANTS not to be treated like worthless crap, and when the AFRICANS found out what was going on they stopped, low and behold they started stealing Africans.

they don't understand because then they'd have to face reality that dang this was really horrible and MY ancestors did this!.

They can't imagine their faimilies being ripped apart, their women being raped left and right (that's how we got light skinned Blacks, did you know that?, can you still tell me that slavery doesn't affect us now)? their pple being boiled alive and hanged for no reason, they can't.

By the way to all my fellow brothas and sistas who are light I love you dearly I was just pointing that out, I wasn't trying to offend ya'll ok, i love every shade within our community, one love

Now days I feel like most people have fallen into a "routine" of racism. I say this because I like to stand back and just watch people from time to time. I have noticed that no matter what race you are you have grown up with a sense of racism. You may not truly be racist but when we go out in public and we come upon a person of any other race we all put up a wall. depending on how you truly feel about the race in ? depends on the type of wall you put up. EXAMPLE a extreme racist comes across a person of different race the the racist will make this very clear that they have a problem with them. A person who doesnt care either way comes across another race and they put up a lighter wall. They have no hard feelings for the other person but they do act differently around them then they would a person of their same race. But from what I have seen we all do it in some form or fashon. I can be around any other race with no problems at all even though I come from and was raised around a slightly racist family. I do realize the wall i put up sometimes and I try to put it away. Most people just cant see beyond their wall. I dont know if this makes any sense but that is the way I see it.

I am a white American and believe I understand what you go thru. I don't think it is whining or complaining unless that is all you talk about to me or that is your excuse for EVERYTHING (and I have never met an African-American that does this). I think people "forget" about slavery only because no on living today actually went thru it, while there are still people alive that saw the Holocaust and certainly 911. Yes prejudice and bigotry still exist, and proof is in the fact that intercities have higher black population than the considerably whiter suburbs. I have experienced some prejudice myself, being a women. I also have ancestors that came from the middle est. I look like a white American but hear hurtful comments about Arabs all the time because people don't realize I might be one. i do think or at least hope it is getting better and hope you can show us our ignorance.

Why do you write a book?

Contact some of your representitives againts racism

and tell you friends that when they carry a cam corder, have it ready for such insidents, and go straight to the media

If you really want to do something constructive, for your childrens future, try the educational approach. Try to build up relations between police and the community, with organised sporting events, and things like that. You also need to clean up your image with ghettos, because even I would never visit the ghettos from all the way around the other side of the world - if I holiday in America.

When we see your gangs, and scum and filth that is in the media, it makes me think, why is there so much of it?

There is not as many of you in your community as there should be!! If your serious about changing things, move out of the area, and forget about it. then just change what you can from a nice area, where the gangs and thugs have not affected

It's simply that we all go through racism , not just blacks . I live in an area that is mostly hispanic , I am white and a minority where I live . I have been turned down for a few jobs because I don't speak spanish . That would be ok , but I also am not allowed services that I see people all around me getting . I can no longer work due to advanced arthritis in my feet . supposedly my husband makes too much money for me to be able to get disability . My husband brings home $1600 a month after child support ,and our rent is $850. some of the cheapest in our area .Some of the people that my husband work with are hispanics , I've met them and they are the best people he works with , hard workers and nice guys . But here's the thing ,each one of them is married to a woman who's getting welfare , food stamps , medi-cal .They have rolls of money in their pockets . One of the wives even owns a restaraunt . I have no health care period . I can't get help from anyone .We live in a falling down trailer , I wear broken glasses and my vision is 25/400 .I can't wear shoes , only clogs , but I have 1 pair and that is worn out . I've been wearing the same clothes for 7 yrs. rarely do I get anything new .Before my feet got so bad I worked front desk for 10 years . I had bought a vehicle which had to be repossesed .But the very worst thing of it all is the fact that no one cares , because we are white . we've been told that you have to be stupid to be poor if you're white . Neither my husband or myself had the benefit of an education beyond high school . I had never heard of grants and the money wasn't there . We both have survived because of hard work .But our neighbors who also don't have educations and work hard , also have the benefit of free health care and what ever subsidies the government can possibly think of to give them . I like our neighbors , they are kind people . But because they aren't white , they have help . Where's the help for me and my hubby who works 60 hr weeks ? Don't talk to me about injustice and inequality , I'll show you how the flag helps everyone unless you are white .

I do recognize there is something about the system in America that has made it true that a disproportionately large number of black people are involved with crime, live in poverty, etc. I've never understood the cause. I'm sure it has to do with racism, because that's what my gut tells me, but I don't know how. I don't see it on a day to day basis (that's not to say it doesn't exist, just that I don't see it). Could it be the expectation of racism that prevents some young black people from having a sense of opportunity? Is it just a perpetual / vicious cycle that's continued from pre-MLK? Is it racist cops who lock people up, destroying their background check, making it harder to get a job? Secretly racist employers?

What can people do to make it stop? You can tell people that racism is horrible & wrong, but you can't make them stop. It's like that saying, "You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

The great nation as we are fit in, to place all cages for each separation which was about 30 years ago. Not physical cage just a metaphor speaking, we all've been out of the cage long enough to accept each other. We age, so the younger once talks to talk about it and take it the wrong way. Take the pride, but be caution how to put it. Always keep it positive to avoid conflict of interests which can cause flashback/back stabbing. We need to unify the unity in purely ego minded and be free willing to accept each other.

cause it is whining and complaining. I'm not saying racism doesn't happen but ive yet to see or hear a jewish person complain that someone is being racist towards him/her and shove in the holocaust in their sympathy story. and plus....the holocaust was even worse! nazis actually tried to WIPE OUT an ENTIRE RACE. slavery is bad too but it wasn't just the white man buying and selling slaves....it was also africans selling their own people to the white man as slaves. and it wasn't just black people who experience racism. the chinese has also endured racism to the point where the chinese were not allowed to come into the americas...the japanese were sent to concentration camps leaving behind EVERYTHING and not knowing when they could leave. and i have never heard the chinese of japanese complain and whine about their past...they just continue their lives and move on. even white people experience racism...they have racist slurrs too..like redneck, white trash...we can call a white person any white racist slurr and it isn't has bad as saying a racist black slurr when in reality NO RACIST SLUR SHOULD BE TOLERATED. and i know all those rap songs say "n word" this "n word" that... so stop playing victim and get over the past. if your going to throw around the "horrible" word yourselves...dint get offend when others throw it around too. it must not be that important to you since you have no problem calling each other the "n word".

I agree that you shouldn't be told to forget slavery. But what I personally don't care for is when I am treated like **** by black people who think that every white person should be crawling on their knees and begging for forgiveness. I didn't own any slaves, ever. And I was raised to be disgusted at the thought. Just like the holocaust. Its not today's people who are walking the earth that fueled slavery. That's not to say that racism doesn't exist still. But I don't care for a mind set that I should be punished for something I didn't do. Its okay to be angry with those who did, just like the people who actually committed the holocaust, but today's Jews aren't angry at all living Germans. just like I am not angry at all living English who oppressed my Scottish ancestors. Get my point? Its not fair to say that it should be forgotten, but it IS fair to say its ridiculous to blame each white person as if they took part in slavery.

I, personally do not even pretend that I know the racism that you face everyday. It is unfortunate that we live in a country where your color is still a major factor. I saw the questions that someone left on Yahoo Answers about 30 minutes and I flagged them. I am sorry that there are such ignorant people out there.

GET OVER YOURSELF!! You want the answer to your question?? Go back to the first question you asked and you'll see the answer. OR are you just going to keep reposting the same question until you get an answer you like? Read what I wrote, there is your answer.

I need to stay in school? I am out of school, look at my profile...anyway...here is some education for you about slavery, racism and oppression so maybe you can shut your trap about your miserable oppressed existance.

The Arab world has traded in slaves like many other cultures of the region. It was one of the oldest slave trades, predating the European transatlantic slave trade by hundreds of years

The slave trade from East Africa to Arabia was dominated by Arab and African traders.

Between 11 and 17 million slaves crossed the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Sahara Desert from 650 to 1900, compared to 11.6 million across the Atlantic from 1500 to the late 1860s. The Arab or Middle Eastern slave trade continued into the early 1900s[13].

The Arab trade in slaves continued into the 20th century.

Slave owning and slave-like working conditions have been documented up to and including the present, in countries of the Middle East.

French historian Fernand Braudel noted that slavery was endemic in Africa and part of the structure of everyday life.

The end of the slave trade and the decline of slavery was imposed upon Africa by its European conquerors.

Slavery persists in Africa more than in all other continents.

So now when you start spouting off at the mouth about who owned the most slaves, and us evil white people and our endless oppression against your race. Start with the history you earlier criticized me for not knowing.

Don't know what to say to that do you?
