Hi,
This is such an involved question as you say so much in so few words. You mention the past: trying to gain other people's respect and conquer goals and I get the impression that perhaps you feel you have failed at both.
You have read about astrology but is this just books on astrology or is it a true analysis of your birth chart which might show up your individual potentials?
You ask should you stay where you are comfortable or explore the unknown. In the same sentence you mention your fascination with the afterlife.
You are not depressed. You say you are uninspired. You're looking for inspiration. I really hope you will find it.
I think ... clearly what is 'familiar' hasn't been giving you any satisfaction and to try for 'change' take up a challenge might give you a better sense of who you are and bring you greater fulfillment. I think you are slightly depressed. And bored. If you have not conquered your past goals, perhaps you set yourself unrealistic goals or they just weren't the right goals for you. Before you gain the respect of other people, learn to respect yourself ... see you do have some learning to do and this should inspire you ... once you respect yourself, the views of others should not matter as much.
Set yourself short-term goals and every time you reach one, reward yourself. This can be anything from taking up an evening class, starting a new hobby, joining a group or club where you can meet people and try something new. If you feel uninspired, think about volunteering your services for a charity. You could even find sponsorship to go abroad and do something to help others thereby helping yourself too, by getting out of this familiar rut.
You do need to break out of your rut and find new interests/challenges that bring you more fulfillment in this life. I hope you find these.
Polly

It depends on your personality if you want to explore or stay in you "comfort zone" I personally love to explore new stuff and not have any idea of what's around the corner. You can't actually be sure that there is life after death so you should try to live your life, instead of just waiting to be taken to a perfect land that may not even exist. All I can say man is do what you want. Stop caring about goals and just do on impulse what you think is going to make you happy. That's not very inspirational I don't think but it's the best i can do.

I believe there is a happy medium. You get to a point where you are comfortable but also need to be open to the unknown... I to ,at different times in my life thought about the "afterlife". That i, I believe, is a personal decision can only made by oneself...You can control your level of inspiration. It is a choice to appreciate and be inspired. I don't know how old you are and if you have children, but I am inspired everyday because of my 5yr old son. He makes me strive to be the best possible mother and human being. I am inspired by the little boy he is becoming and the man I hope he will be. I'm not saying you have to have child to be inspired, that is my personal experience. You choose what you believe and how you live, and I believe that being the very best person you can be is very inspiring.

If you are looking for a different way to think about life and death, try reading Destiny of Souls by Michael Newton. It is incredibly interesting. He regresses people through hypnosis back to before they were born into the womb to try to understand what happens on the other side when we pass from this lifetime. It is the account of many of his regressed patients and what they reveal to him from their regressions. Granted, this book isn't for everyone, but, if you are looking for a different twist to the conventional, this is it.

actually, believing ur though in astrology to see ur future life is not a wise action. may be sometime it does work but actually the big liar is it! is the astrology thing OK? u just need to relax and find ur point (something u want to set a goal) and go on with it. :)

it is very easy to get to the place where you are now...problem is we always expect something new to come up but if you look back on your life...when things were interesting it was because you were searching and interested...find one thing that truly interests you...no matter how stupid it may sound to someone else...and try to find others with that interest to expound your own...even if you go into chat rooms to do it...it is a start...i found myself needing something else in my life and met some very interesting people on the net...after a few years actually went to another country to meet them and have been traveling ever since...it gives me something to hold onto while i am working to add up my vacation days for my next trip...

It sounds to me like you need something new and exciting in your life to get you inspired again. Just stop and look around you there are so many things to do and see and to experience in this world. Get out there and live....don't give up. You don't sound like someone who would just give up and get it over with to me. I really think you just need something new in your life. Seek it out and start living fully again!
