There are risks to every surgery, including breast surgery.

An enhancement? You mean implants/augmentation? TOTALLY different than a reduction. Going bigger is usually a self esteem/vanity issue whereas a reduction is more for their health (back/neck/shoulder etc) and can be covered by insurance.

Just make sure you research the doctor you choose for whichever surgery you want. Make sure they are accredited and on the Board of Plastic Surgeons.

Look around on various boards to find any recommendations and experiences with the doctor you choose.

Make sure you see at least three plastic surgeons before deciding.

A site that was really helpful to me is http://www.breasthealthonline.com it has a FAQ's section, a support board, a picture board, its great!

ok, to start with breast reduction is a HUGE step to take as it involves a long recovery and permenant scarring, so don't go there if you can avoid it. My suggestion would be to go to your GP and get a referrel to a physiotherapist to see if there might be another reason for your back/neck pain, and/or find ways to manage the pain in a different way. I'm a large E cup, but i've found that getting a good supportive bra, and lifting weights to strengthen my back and shoulders really helped.

It depends on if you get a reliable plastic surgeon. Get a referral from your family doctor. You do know that breast reduction and breast enhancements are two totally different things, don't you?

It is generally safe, as health clinics will be audited on their safety procedures. The myths of airplane explosions etc are also just myths. However, with saline implants a puncture could be toxic.

However, cosmetic surgery is not just going to make someone happy. Dramatically altering their physical image can cause some serious mental side effects. A "craving" for cosmetic surgery is similar in mental diagnosis as anorexia or bulimia. There is more information on body image concerns in my link.

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
