It's much better to get to the point where you're pushing THEIR trolley or carrying their hand baskets. But if you must decide, I would say just do it depending on your amount of food. You can look "cool" by leaning on the trolley (just me careful it doesn't flip over and fall on top of you, that's not a very nice 1st impression) but a handbasket will make you appear more casual and not very stiff and formal, like you just "dropped by".

Actually, it doesn't matter what you carry/push. It's the contents inside that does matter and, your approach. But lets face it, if she finds you attractive, she won't be thinking too much about the basket/trolley, instead, she'll be paying attention to your words and where your eyes are focused on!
If she doesn't seem interested, you better just get in line and leave before you make a spectacle of yourself!
Whatever you do, please, don't purchase condoms at a grocery store!
