I am sorry but I absolutely love myspace and so many people are trying to get it shut down.
So my question really is, what is so different between Chat rooms on Excite, MSN, Yahoo, ect as well as BEBO, Friendster, and the rest of that stuff like messengers and crap!????
Explain that to me!
That is how I keep in contact with many family members because that way I dont have to pay for long distances and post constant pictures and dont have to delete them.
AND THATS HOW I GET A REAL LOOK ON MILITARY!

Myspace is not bad. What makes it bad is when stupid people are being irresponsible and get in all kinds of problems. There's always a group of people who will always ruin something good for the rest. They do stupid things like meeting people in real life through myspace.
It's like driving. A car can be a very dangerous thing, but we all (or almost all) use caution and common sense not to get in any kind of trouble.
If some people only used COMMON SENSE lol.
So NO, it's not a bad thing. What makes it bad is when people decide to be stupid.

Myspace is so different to chat rooms. You can have a private page and is actually something young people go on to talk to their friends. But you said Chat Rooms on Excite so i'm not really familiar with that..
MSN is also a lot different, it's harder for people to get your msn address whereas on myspace people can find your page through your friends page, so MSN is more private.
Bebo and myspace are a lot similar, just bebo is simpler and not with the use of the html codes, i don't find these codes hard to use.
I know there are problems with myspace like paedofiles(spelling?) and all that but that isn't myspace's fault, and all the users shouldn't be punished for the fact a girl or boy is stupid enough to meet somebody offline that they met online or that their parents didn't watch what they were on and didnt check where they were going.
But also your page can be private which can prevent people talking to you who you dont know/dont want to know.
Other than that problem myspace is a great place to talk to people, and i sometimes have a chat with people that live in my area on there, not intending to meet up with them or anything, just to chat to, it's harmless. And like you said it's a cheaper way to stay in contact and an easy way to show pictures of an event or something to some friends or family.

It's good, but not for children. Parents of kids under 18 need to keep them away cause just as with pretty much anything else the risk of predators is there. I don't think it's anyone's responsibily but the parents to keep their children safe online.

I love myspace. It lets me stay in contact with love ove and friends who don't live locally.

Myspace is a tool, it is neither good nor bad.
However, I think the site is starting to show is age anyway.

Not good or bad. Myspace is for people who have troubles expressing themselves in real life. Talk to your shrink about that.

good: got in touch with old classmates, keep in touch through pictures with friends from NJ, etc. allows me to actually be creative, and widens my computer knowledge.
bad: slow as hell, not always running well.
