Hey this is america, crackpot heaven and home of the NRA, have ater fella no sense keeping the boat from rocking. there are some very important things to keep in mind though, phone calls, don't say things like, 'bombs' 'government' 'killing'
'oak ridge' 'timmy mcveigh' 'unabomber', and be extremely careful you don't start purchasing hardwear that turns semi automatic weapons into fully automatic weapons or the ATF will drop by for a housecall probably along with the FBI if not the national guard. Good luck on that militia. Why dont you use some of that gusto and head over to Iraq and play football with an IED?

In this time of War on Terrorism, any private militia group WILL draw scrutiny from Homeland Security.

As for staying legal, that depends on what you plan to do, and what your stated goals might be.

Lots of "militias" are nothing more than a bunch of crackpots with an agenda, ranging from survivalism, to racism and everything in between.

My advise is don't try to start a militia. Contact your state militia, not the National Guard, and see about enlisting.

Breaking laws for the "rush" is not a good reason, it's actually pretty selfish, immature and dishonest. All throughout history laws have been broken. An example of a just crime? The Underground Railroad. An example of an unjust crime? Drunk driving, theft, etc.

Sure! It's called a gun club! And you can probably get funded and open a firing range to practice at! There's loopholes in every scenario, you just have to be scrupulous enough to do it the legal way and stay on our Gov's good side!

I think you would have to look into being incorporated as a military contracting company. I don't know what you would have to do to avoid trouble with the ATF.

No you cant unless you are taking part in mercenary activities, and that is probably outlawed too, even if you are just plotting in the states for a coup de tat somewhere else.
