Such as: not bunting for a base hit with a no hitter on the line, yelling "mine!" as a runner while the outfielder attempts to catch the ball, swinging on 3-0, you know, stuff like that?

There's a difference between the "unwritten rules" you mention and being just plain Bush League.

Bunting for a base hit can be smart baseball, depending on a player's speed and ability to bunt as well as the situation in terms of the where you are in the game and how the game has gone, etc. A well placed bunt is just as effective as a hit.

Also, any good hitter should be free to swing away on a 3-0 pitch, knowing they can be VERY selective. This is a "hitter's count" and can be a great chance to get an easy pitch to put into the stands.

As for pulling an A-Rod and yelling "mine!"--that's Bush League. Baseball is the greatest game ever invented and it's meant to be played a certain way. A real ball player should have such a reverence for this great game that they would never dare disrespect it. Someone who disrespects baseball, not only disrespects the game, but disrespects the contributions of the thousands of players who came before them. A Bush League style of play is the ultimate disrespect and anyone who plays Bush League ball is not worthy to be called a ball player.

Some of them I do, some I don't. Swinging on 3-0 shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. Bunting to break-up a no-hitter, no problem. Throwing at the next guy up after the previous hitter hits a home run. No.

After the Tigers allowed 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th to the Indians to lose, I no longer think stealing bases with the lead is bush league. No lead is safe these days.

Yes I do belive most of the "unwritten rules" but not all...

I don't think you should try to steal a base when you have a good lead.

I don't think you should yell anything trying to distract the opposing fielder.

Now bunting for a base hit I have no problem with...it is the batters job to get on base anyway he can. (Stop crying Schilling if you would have fielded Ben Davis' bunt you would still have your No-No)

I also have no problem with swinging at a 3-0 pitch if game conditions call for it. (example- 9th inning down by a run with 2 outs)

Remember the unwritten rules at the professional level developed as the 8 team leagues (pre-1960) had to play each other 22 times in the old 154 game schedules. It was a brotherhood that I do not believe exists today and it kept itself in line by policing itself. Today's players do not appreciate the beauty of the game -- its all about the benjamins.

its definatelylittle league to yell 'mine'.swinging at 3-0 is a mental error.bunting for a hit in a no-hitter depends on the score.if your down 1 you still have a chance to win.so do what you gotta do to get on base.but if your losing by 4 in the bottom of the 9th its childish.

Sure, but that doesn't mean that everybody has to follow them. Basically, you shouldn't do things that subvert the spirit of competition, or you might get beaned the next time you come to the plate.
