Why worry - make an appointment to see your GP!

It sounds as though you might have what is known as a Bartholin's abscess or cyst. There are glands in the vaginal lips called Bartholin’s glands. These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form. This often causes blockage in the main duct from the gland, and a cyst develops. This is felt as a painless, hard swelling.

The redness that you describe suggests that there is some infection there, and the other lumps that you have noticed may be lymph glands that have become enlarged in response to infection in the area.

It would be a good idea to arrange to see your GP so that you can be examined. It is only after an examination that it will become clear what the swellings that you have noticed are due to, and whether the discharge is significant.

Swabs could be taken to look for infection. If thrush is thought to be likely, treatment with anti-fungal pessaries and cream will be prescribed. In the case of a Bartholin's abscess, antibiotics may be helpful, or surgical treatment might be required. It is very unlikely that there is a more serious cause for your symptoms. Tumours (benign or cancerous) are extremely rare in this area.

The sooner you see your GP the sooner you are likely to be reassured.

Please don't worry. I get this from time to time. They are little hard lumps under the skin that you can move. They are extremely sore and appear on your grion - right by the side of your vagina. They can start off really tiny and get to the size of a pea - they should completely go away again. I would advise you to go your Doctor HOWEVER, don't worry in the meantime, they sound like blocked sweat glands which is what mine were. Wear cotton pants - perhaps when you are in the house don't wear any pants or, in bed - that will stop any rubbing. They usually appear when it is hot - which it has been lately. Interestingly, I never get them in the winter.

Please don't worry - the first time I had them I thought the worse which is natural - It was really frustrating as quite often by the time I got to the doc they had disappeared!. Now if I get them I know not to worry. Have a good day and don't worry please. x

If there's a history of Leukaemia and other cancer in your family, then it's perfectly understandable that you're worried. Don't panic yet, though. It's far more likely to be a cyst or a boil or an infected follicle, all of which are uncomfortable but not life-threatening. The doctor will probably give you some antibiotic cream to put on it, depending what the diagnosis is. Good luck!

Do you get waxed down there? I get ingrown hairs...and sometimes they look like pea sized lumps and they are sore. The first time I got it, I went to the doctor b/c I was so worried. But turned out to be harmless ingrown hairs.

Regardless, please go to the doctor b/c you never know.

I have heard and seen it once. The person concerned was told that they would go in time. It took 3 years and they just disappeared. Best advice is to se a doctor as there are other things it could be which might have lasting effects.

Could be either pimples or ingrown hairs but the only way to know for sure is to have them evaluated by your dr to see what they think.
