I have heard of it and it sounds like a good job that I would enjoy. Where do I begin? Do you know of any real mystery shopping jobs in New York state that would hire a 16 year old? I've seen many sites that require a membership fee of some sort, which to me sounds like a scam. Could I have a little guidance?

Start with this website: www.mysteryshop.org, which is
the professional organization that monitors the mystery shopping industry. It's a little tricky in the beginning. MysteryShop.org is the best place to get information about the industry. Mysteryshop.org has a Question and Answer Section.

MS shoppers will also have questions to be asked and answered.

It is FREE to be a Mystery Shopper. (never pay to shop)

The pay is low. Most shops pay between $3.00 - $5.00, more, depending on the complexity of the shop.

When you are ready for your first MS - here is a list of companies where you can apply.

Pay is often by pay-pal. some MS companies may pay by check.

Any questions, always go to MysteryShop.org. Post your question and someone will give you an answer.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Forget about most money-making websites, if this is a UK question just visit the website of the Market Research Association, follow their links page and you get all the major market research companies who you then apply to directly with your CV. I worked for a market research company for a while on the admin side and we employed lots of mystery shoppers. There isn't big money in it but a lot of people seemed to enjoy it and got a regular if small income. The ability to send in your report in decent English is a plus.

that is a scam these days.
mystery shoppers are people that have been with the company for a long time, that go undercover at other stores.
You dont want to be a mystery shopper.
