The team had its glory years in the 80's when they won 5 titles and instigated that famous "showtime" era. Two great Lakers were the constant in those years - Kareem and Magic. These two individuals had contrasting characters, different talents and varied accomplishments in the sport. But one thing is certain: one wouldn't have won any of those five titles without the other. Therefore, I think it should be a tie between Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson.

I had to laugh at the guy who put Tim Duncan.
The question said :"Greatest LAKER"
There have been LOTS of GREAT Lakers.
I have to go with Wilt Chamberlain though...he holds 2 NBA records that might never be broken.
100 points in a game. Kobe came close with 81.
55 rebounds in a game.
Those are sick.
BTW Did you know that Poker great Doyle Brunson was chosen by the Lakers? However, before his first season he was working on his dad's farm and tore his knee up and never played.

I'd give my vote to Mr. Clutch, Jerry West, a.k.a. Zeke from Cabin Creek. He was just a class act, he always gave himself in every game he played. Even though he won just one title in his NBA career, he was a winner. He was a great shooter with unlimited range, a great scorer, very good defender, excellent passer, and a team player. He had just the great misfortune of playing in an era where Russell lorded the NBA.
BTW, to KC, Wilt Chamberlain did score 100 points in a game and grabbed 55 rebounds in another game, but he accomplished those feats when he was a Philadelphia Warrior, and not as a Los Angeles Laker.

Kobe and Magic, I select Magic because he was playing in all places, center, point guard, small forward or power forward. He was doing great job with Laker. I could select Kobe because he is doing everything for to win. They might lost but he does everything.

I'd have to pick Magic Johnson as the best laker of all time, cause I'd even pick him as best all-around player in the history of the NBA
