I have a Raptor in my system and I like it a lot, I just don't like how loud it can be sometimes. What is a good and inexpensive way to reduce its noise while keeping it in the 3.5 bay?

Hi,

there are few ways you can reduce the noise of your hard disk..

1. Put a dampener at your hard drive screw. (some kind of rubber or something else to absorb the vibration that cause the noise.
- you can also buy some customised product for noise reduction purpose.
example : http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3041/noi-07/Scythe_Hard_Disk_Stabilizer_II_-_HDD_Noise_Reduction.html?tl=g11c28s211

2. You can put the hard disk in a special enclosure that will absorb most of the acoustic noise and at the same time cool down your hard disk.

one of the popular product is here : http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/Nexus-DiskTwin-Silver-Aluminum-HD-Noise-Reducer-p-16304.html

I hope my answer above help to eliminate your problem. I'm always looking at the best and cheapest way to reduce noise and heat from my PC.. ;)..

First factor's first, simply in case it's your tough force, purchase your self a moveable tough force and again up your essential records on it. Then switch the information onto a brand new tough force while you change that with the ancient one. Usually although, whilst a tough force makes noise, it is on account that the screws or locks that maintain it in location don't seem to be tight ample. If it isn't the tough force making the noise, you would desire to assess the fan(s) to look if they are functioning competently. Everytime I heard a noisy spinning noise or drilling noise, it was once a fan death.

Has the drive been making the noise right along or has it gotten louder recently. I do not know of any way to quiet a hard drive but if it has gotten louder recently I would be looking for a new drive yesterday because it could be telling you that it is ready for a long sleep and you will lose everything on your drive.

Do a backup to a disk cd or dvd or do a google search for free backup software for os and you will find some sites where you can backup your hard drive to their site. Good luck, Roy
