My LCD Monitor has 2 missing pins from the inside of its cable that attaches to the video card. However, I did not think that the missing pins could keep the screen from working. Is it? I have switched out different graphic cards but no picture shows up on my monitor. The monitor does not have the warning "Picture not found!" or anything on the screen. So, missing pins to blame or something else?

The PC does boot properly when I listen to the hard drive and everything. It is as if everything is working except the video. But I refuse to believe its just a couple missing pins... =/

Okay I tried switching the cables, no luck. Therefor must be graphics card problem. But I have switched 4 different graphics cards in there and tested them all and I still cant see anything. Also, before this screen not working thing happened, i started up the PC fine EXCEPT the computer said there was no Video Card and I used DXDIAG to confirm, it was running off some default video display card built into my mobo yet now, nothing seems to work.

Most D-SUB connectors on monitors are missing a pin or two. However, if the pins are missing by design or if they were broken off is a big question. If they were broken off, then the monitor will no longer work with that cable.

Turn the monitor on without it plugged into the computer at all. If your monitor is functional at all, it will display a test message, or a message about not being connected to anything. If it still doesn't display anything, the monitor is bad.

Is it a VGA cable (15 pins, 3 rows of five) or a DVI cable (square with square holes)?

Actually, pin #9 is never used on VGA or SVGA. If you have more than one missing, try replacing the cable and see if it helps.

Since its an LCD monitor it should have a message on the screen when not plugged into the computer saying "No Signal" or something to that effect. Try taking the other posters advice and check the brightness and contrast settings. If you hit the menu button and nothing shows up, your monitor is probably dead. Check the monitor with another known good system. Buy a new one, they're cheap now.

I think that 15 pins is vga and the cable w/ 2 pins missing is svga your graphics card would need to support svga in order to use this type of monitor
some monitors have the cable attached and some are inter changeable if that is the case for you try switching cables
