I'm not that much of a gamer, but if I purchased this laptop, I'd want to maybe get a few games, such as Counterstrike Source. I've customized an hp computer with a Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T2350 (1.86GHz/ 2MB L2Cache) Processor, 2GB of memory, a 160 GB hard drive, and a 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400 Graphics Card. What is the most powerful type of game I would be able to play, and are there any recommendations for what I could do to get a better performance for gaming at an affordable price?

It can only do 1996 marks on 3D Mark 05 (desktop budget card range). Do not expect awesome performance in latest games.

If you want better gaming performance from a laptop, your selection priority should be GPU first then CPU second.

The processor is good, and so is the amount of RAM.

The problem is that the gaming graphics would be very weak. The Go 7400 is the rough equivalent of a FX 5200 for a desktop. Very, very weak by today's standards. Lucky for you Counterstrike Source will run on it, and that's just about the highest level game that laptop will be able to pull.

If want to game on a laptop look for something with at least an Mobility X1800 XT or Go 7950 GTX,chipset. It's about the equivalent of a desktop 1950GT/7900 GS respectivly. Either one should give you a playable framerate on even the newest games.

You're really not gonna get a gaming laptop without a big pricetag. That's just not their purpose.

Here's a rough overview of graphics on desktops and notebooks. Notice that the Go 7400 is at the very bottom. That's not a good thing.
