I think that Oprahs show is in a class of its own. It is nothing like normal talk shows and when 6000 abused women call a crisis hotline after seeing her show on abuse asking for help to get out of a situation you cannot ignore tha kind of impact. Oprah is rich not because she is on Forbes list but because she actually meets needs of people with her wealth. Money onlymakes more of who you always were. She has done some fabulous things. I dont think Maury or Jerry SPringer have built a neighborhood of homes for Katrina victims so to me she isnt even in the same class.

I use to like her but I've lost all respect for her. I agree with DeAnna I feel she has definitely become way to materialistic.
When she was doing shows with Gary Zukav about Spirituality and the trappings of the Ego and materialism she was great. I admired her for putting the information out there and educating people.
But now her Ego has gotten way out of control. I think it's about time for our girlfriend Oprah to have a reality check.
And don't even get me started on the school in Africa. I mean for 40 million dollars for 152 students ,come on! And another 2 Million per year to maintain it.
How many smaller schools could of been built for thousands of children.
There are currently 58 Million Orphans on the continent of Africa.
Why spend 40 Million dollars for just 152 ? Even if they grow up to be great leaders it still seems to be a folly of Oprah's Ego to me.
But I'm glad you enjoy her show anyway.

Depends on what they are talking about. The show is catered to an audience that I really don't fit into, so I don't watch it too often. I may check in to see what the topic is but, it's not something I watch on a daily basis.
With that said, I respect Oprah herself, though she's a tad materialistic now. I respect all she's accomplished and wish her all the best.

I used to respect O and her show....until I saw her looked pained (and it was a POOR acting job), wearing what she felt were common folk clothing and BLUESCREENED images of Katrina devastated neighborhoods like SHE was physically there!!! I think O was more distressed being seen in 'common' clothing attire and bare minimum make-up (when it really wasn't THAT minimum).
It was a pitiful case of viewer deception---and I for one was balked and appalled by it. Evidently, O carries the business opinion that the demographic of her female audience are mindless, clueless bimbos--to only sell advertised products to.
O today is NOT the O 10 years back; she's grown much worse into an overrated ego-inflated persona I can't watch anymore.

I love Oprah. I hope the producers can come up with more really good topics. There have been some lame topics this season.
