Some pills can reduce the length/severity of your period. Everyone is different and reacts differently. Talk with your GYN to decide which ones might be best to try. It may take a few tries to get the right one for you.

I have been on many different kinds but now I take Seasonale and I only get my period 4 times a year. Lasts about 4-5 days. Drawback is sometime you can spot or bleed randomly (especially during the first year.) Im into my 3rd year now and that is rare (knock on wood!). I recommend it highly. But again, its not the same for everyone. Hope this helps.

Most at least shorten or decrease the amount of flow you have. If you skip the last 7 placebo pills in any birth control pill pack and move right on to your next pack... you won't get your period.

In most birth control pill packs there is 28 pills, 21 of which have hormones, the other 7 are just reminder pills. If you just keep taking the 21 "active" pills without waiting the 7 days taking the reminders, you won't get your period. It might take a couple months for you to not get it at all. But eventually you will be skipping periods.

Most lessen the flow and reduces PMS symptoms.

Seasonale makes you have only four periods a year from what I've read.

Lybrel is a new pill out that makes you have no periods, but its so new we don't know the side affects, long term affects or after-pill issues that could arise from using it.

I'm on Kariva, and my flow is really super light. I just wear a pantyliner for a few days and I'm fine. No bad PMS either.

I've tried yasmeen, and mercilion..both did successfully in reducing my period.. but some of my friends, their period stay normal and some even heavier..i think it's up to your hormone and its reaction to the pills..
