This is such a heart breaking situation for all of my family. Does anyone know where we could get help? Or any suggestions as how we could get funds for this? We truly have no way of paying this or we would have done the transplant months ago. She is now hospitalized. She's 27 years old.

Also try a local or national Kidney foundation - they may have funds available for situations like yours. Also you can check to see if there is an organization dedicated to the specific kidney disease your sister has, they might also be able to help or tell you where you can find help.

Yes, I am an organ donor as well. I like the idea that there can be parts of me taken to save others. If these organs aren't doing me any good; why shouldn't they help someone else live a longer life.

Contact your local TV Station who might put you in the right direction or have access to benevolent doctors, hospitals or organizations.

Question: are you saying she doesn't have any insurance, or that she has insurance and they won't cover the transplant?

If she has insurance, you should contact your state's insurance office ombudsman.
