The Earth revolves around the Sun, it doesn't rotate around the Sun. It makes one revolution every 365.25 days. That's why we have a leap year every 4 years.

The Earth rotates on its axis, spinning, and revolves about the sun, traveling an elliptical path like a blue rubber ball on a string being whirled around a much larger blazing hot yellow giant ball, as the other planets of various size at various distance are also whirling--Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus , Neptune and the iceworlds, no longer being universally called "planets" by all scientists because they did not evolve as the other planets did precisely.
It takes 365 1/4 solar days, 24 hours long each, for the Earth to complete that journey at a mean distance of 93 million miles from the parent sun, Sol, a G type middle-sized yellow star.
Earth itself has a large satellite whirling around it, the Moon, 240, 000 miles out. When the Earth moves between a visible moon and the sun that causes a lunar eclipse; when the moon, less often, travels between the Earth and the sun, that causes a solar eclipse.
