A human-sized insectoid would probably be quite slow because a solid exoskeleton is very heavy compared to an internal skeleton like we have. So you probably wouldn't have a hard time staying out of its way if it was trying to eat you. This is assuming, of course, it has been given lungs and redesigned to be a large creature; it would be rather different from what we generally think of as an insect (it would have thick legs like we do for instance, not stick-like legs as those couldn't hold up a big creature).
If you wanted to kill it I'd recommend a blunt weapon like a hammer or a club over a stabby weapon. A gun would, obviously, be best. If it has a nervous system like an insect it could keep going after a large amount of damage. On the other hand it would bleed out very quickly from any puncture in the exoskeleton since it's got an open circulatory system.
Humans would still be dominant since we have intelligence and can make tools and weapons and they don't.

First off, you don't have a theory or a hypothesis. You have an opinion.
I doubt that an insect could survive. The weight of the exoskeleton would be so get it would be difficult moving. There is a reason insects have succeeded as is.

Well, I'm pretty sure, but the exo skeletons are just like bones, so its would be like having a shield of bones around your body.
Normal weapons would work against them, so we would still be "on top".
However, i have been thinking over that past few years, are we really on the top? People die every year to smaller, microscopic things. Shouldnt they be on top, not us?

Assuming you hypothesis was possible, not hard. Remember, men once ran around in exoskeletons of steel, called amour. It was pierce-able.
