Use ice, something like advil (IF you can take it...don't go getting an allergic reaction!), and having it above your heart..not hanging by your side should help it some. If it doesn't really bother you today it might be sore tomorrow! If it gets worse...consider going to the doctor! Good luck

Try R.I.C.E. for swelling: rest, ice, compression, elevation.

Use ice for 10 minutes on and 1/2 hour off for a few hours. Elevate it higher than your heart if you are resting or sitting, wrap it in an ace bandage if you have one. Not too tightly, you don't want blue fingers from cutting off circulation. Re-wrap looser if that happens. Don't use your hand if it is uncomfortable. Rest it when you can and let it heal.

If it is not clear and normal looking in a day or two, there may be an underlying condition.

If you notice pain there when the swelling subsides, you may get some bruising. But if you get pain after the swelling subsides and it lingers for a few days and does not decrease, then you may want to get checked out by your doctor.

Use your head and if you have a good amount of pain show up and it doesn't let up in a few days, the check would make sense.

Cold water can help reduce swelling. Try the threading method. Thread a piece of thin fishing wire, or the flat but glossed dental floss, or even embroidery thread in between the ring and the finger. Needs to be about a foot or so long. Leave a short end after you thread, a few inches, you need this to work with. Now, as you are pulling the short end of the thread through, pull towards the finger tip, wiggling the thread around to pull the ring off. Grandma should have her hand laying at an angled up position while pulling. Why do the nurses want the band off? Her Doctor could also prescribe Lasix (sp), which rids the body of excess water. Good Luck!

Depends on the type of swelling, if you injured your hand by blunt trauma or banging it leading to minor trauma to soft tissue and bones, yes, ice and elevation will help.

What you have may be a third degree burn. And that swelling sounds like blistering. Since it is your hand, I recommend going to your nearby Emergency department and have a medical professional look at it. If not, this blister may lead to infection and severe scarring.

Ice it for 15 minutes on 15 minutes off for about 1 hour. Also take 2 pills of Aleve to take the inflammation down.

Yes it will help.
But.. dont appy ice directly to skin, put a towel or something between it... and dont leave the ice applied to long.. Do in like 10 min sessions. Hope it helped.

Yes ! It will help bring down the swelling
But if the swelling does not go down .. and you are in pain , you really should go have it looked at and X-rayed at the emergency room.

Yes it will and it will take the sting out of the burn too. You better clean it first so it does not get infected. Be careful next time!..
