There are certain birth control methods that allow you to stop your periods or at the very least have them less often. The only downside to this is after you stop them it takes you a bit to get regular again. But it is possible.

If you have your period now though and want to stop it... there is no magic cure, you need to wait it out. It's only a few days.

There are some that can stop periods.

1. depo. this i do not in any way shape or form recommend. I was on it for four years and the side affects are horrible. the ONLY good thing about this was not having to take a pill everyday. the downside is there are class action lawsuits against Pfizer for the effects this has wrought on many women, horrible mood swings, spotting at odd times, weight gain, headaches, and it royally screws with your bone health. i do NOT recommend this~!

2. Lybrel. A new pill that is out that stops periods. IMO we do not know the long term affects of this pill nor do we know the side affects or how it treats a woman's body after they stop taking it with regards to periods and conceiving.

I am on Kariva, and I love it. My period is very very light and I have no PMS issues, nor any side affects like I had on depo.

Periods are a part of a woman's life. Don't try to mess with mother nature and stop periods.

A Hysterectomy will stop your period forever but also stop you having kids forever also it is a pretty drastic surgery. Another option is an endometrial ablation - generally you cant have kids after an endometrial ablation but it is possible to get pregnant but generally you wont carry to full term - 90% of people see improvement in periods and about 50%+ get no period after op.
