in the last episode, it shows them in the future. they left the island without everyone else they left them there. and when jack calls Kate to meet him somewhere, and they meet. jack was telling her that they need to go back to the island. but Kate says no.
jack has become an alcoholic, suicide person and drug attick, and i believe has fallen into depression . i love this show sssoo much we should stay in contact and ask each other questions! i will put you on my favorites and when you ask another question about lost i will try to answer it for you!
my bro. told me next season that the episodes will be 1or 2 hrs long with no commercials!

It was very obvious that it was a flash FORWARD since Jack mentioned to Kate that "we need to go back".
If Kate and Jack knew each other before the crash, why would they look at each other like strangers when the plane crashed?
Logic indicates its a flash forward.

It's a flash forward. It happens after they get off the island, notice that Jack wants to go back. Why? I don't know. It made a great contrast with the fact that in the present they want to get of the island and it looks like theyre about to. That's why they did it, to confuse people and make them think.

It's actually a flash forward. It was confirmed that it took place in Apr. 2007, you can tell that Jack has a Moto KRZR which came out only last year. And yes, that is Kate he's talking to. Many unsolved questions the producers need to answer.

That's why they call them cliffhangers. Yes that was Kate talking to Jack in the flash forward.

you must be talking about the end of the show, where jack and kate meet at the airport. It is NOT a flashback--it's a flashforward of what happened to them after they got of the island. That's what jack is talking about when he says they were never supposed to leave and they have to go back. He means they have to go back to the island. Weird, huh?

it was a flash forward. it was supposed to take place in the future after theyve been rescued from the island. thats why jack was saying "since we've been rescued."
it really helps to listen to the dialogue.

If you are talking about the last episode I think it's in the future.
