Today my favorite insect is the Jerusalem cricket, sometimes called potato bug. They live underground and eat roots, decomposing plant matter, and bugs. They burrow around. They can get to be 2 inches long; when they are that big, they can bite (pinch) hard enough to hurt, but they're harmless. Some people have a superstition that they are deadly poison, but this is unfounded. If they were, I'd be dead by now.
My least favorite bug has to be the pesky cockroach, as I have an irrational dread of them. And they don't even bite.

The ant is an insect, chigger is an arachnid, spider like.

I am a biologist. It is difficult picking just one favorite.
The carpenter bee is a serious pest to me. I have to control it or the resulting damage could be costly.

I like bumble bees and butterflies
I dislike earwigs, millipedes, centipedes, spiders of all sorts, scorpions, and just about anything else that prefers to live in dark corners.

least favorite- the common fly (They eat poo then come in your house and put maggots in your food)
favorite- praying mantis (They look freakin cool)
