moral implies a person's conforming to a set of a society's expected behaviour
morals can be based on tradition or they can be arbitrary
ethical would be able to pass logical reasoning and have more concern or empathy for a person or persons or creature's well being, and concern about the effect of whatever is being considered ethical or unethical.

Morality describes beliefs about right and wrong and good and bad. To some degree or another they vary depending on aspects of the individual, family, circle of friends (as well as other individual influences: teachers, priests, neighbors, etc...), aspects of the community and/or sub-culture (one town versus another or different religions in the same area or religious sects like Methodists as opposed to Baptists), and aspects of the general society (South African, Islamic, etc...). Today there is, more often than not, a large amount of overlap.
Morals are the general sense of right and wrong. The basic ideas.
Ethics are more well defined sets of ideas. Depending on the specific type of ethics involved there may be actual defined sets such as legal ethics or medical ethics. Even then there are grey areas but not as grey or loosely defined as morals. Ethics can describe philosophies or out-right rules of conduct.
Laws, of course, are ethical sets of morals clearly defined and stringently adhered to. Still with grey areas but we're still not perfect, our laws, ethics, and morals can't be if we aren't.

Morals have to do with right and wrong. Ethics are more based on a code of conduct specific to a certain industry or field. Morality has to do with your belief system, and ethics are created to make things work better, and to ensure everyone is satisfied and happy with the way things are done. But, morality has a big impact on how ethics are established. One someone says "that's unethical" that means you have broken a specific code of conduct. But, if someone says "that's immoral" they are saying you are a bad person.

Generally, the terms are synonyms.
However, ethics has some specific uses that don't apply to morals, because the word 'ethical' can refer to a certain code of conduct that isn't necessarily meant to be 'moral'. For example, lawyers have to obey lawyer 'ethics' but that's not morality, it's just the legal code of conduct that they have to do to do their legal job.

Morality is personal, something that comes from within. Ethics are social standards. Ethics leave lots of room for interpretation of what is moral.

Moral can be used as a noun referring to a standard of personal conduct as in sex. Ethical is an adjective and refers primarily to a professional posit.
