Yes, it's true. If it's a fast paced show and needs fast changes. They usually keep the lower underwear on though.

It depends on many factors. 1. How fast is the costume change? 2. Where in the theater is your next entrance? 3. Do you have your own dressing room?

In the event of a fast costume change, not many actors would find themselves with enough time to run back to their dressing room and run back. Often, one keeps their costume by the wing that their next entrance is positioned at, and changes their clothes with (possibly) one or two "dressers" if the costume is complicated.

If you are a member of the ensemble, often women have one large ensemble dressing room, and men have one large ensemble dressing room. Whenever one has a costume change in the ensemble, you got to your dressing room and change there. Whether or not someone happens to be in the vicinity when you change is uncontrollable, but often, nobody minds, as if you were a woman, you would not waltz into the men's dressing room and change your clothes.

If your next enterance is obscure, like running down the aisle of the house, you may layer your costumes, and shed the outer layer when you reach your destination.

There are ways around appearing naked around you fellow cast members, such as wearing a skin colored leotard under your costume. However usually undergarments are kept on while changing. Nudity is not often paraded about a theater, as a theater is all about the show you are putting on, not the clothes that you are. Hope I could help!

Yeah, it happens all the time. And if you're in a dance recital that's even more of a peep show.Professional Actors have respect for each other so no one ever gawks or anything while people are changing. Most theaters don't give each person their own dressing room so that's how you get dressed. It's not that big a deal, you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you aren't one of the stars, and have your own dressing-room, then all the rest of the cast are sometimes bundled into one dressingroom.Yes, you all get dressed and undressed together. But what your friend isn't saying; usually you don't have time to stand and stare. Your dressers are there to help you change costumes.Anyway actors/actresses wouldn't do it, if they were overly modest about their bodies. You just get on with what your doing.

When you have to be back onstage quickly in a new costume, you don't always have time to retreat to a dressing room. Changes may have to occur in the wings. In a professional scenario, the other actors would be focusing on their roles, not on someone changing. It is part of the job.

When you have to make quick costume changes, that can happen. You are so wrapped up in the show, you don't have time to think pruddish thoughts. It's AFTER the show, when everyone goes out for dinner that things can get steamy.

besides quick costume changes, actors tend to lack modesty. They do love attention, duh. But it's not tasteless or about being naked. Plus some acting philosphies stand on the belief that to be 100 % confident on stage, you have to be comfortable in your own skin- some acting 101 classes have the option of being in the nude.

it just depends on what you need to change into or out of and how quickly you'll be on stage. If you're talking a slower paced community theatre production, then, no, not usually, but when it's a bigger production with lots of costume changes and whatnot - there's usually no time for modesty.

It happens sometimes. It's not like it's REQUIRED, but, occasionally, you find yourself in the position of having to do a quick change, and...you just do it.
