if i add a 18inch bubble wall with a 20-40 gallon air pump will it hurt my african cichlids in a 29 gallon tank that already has a 20-40 gallon filter? i know they dont really do anything i just want one for the looks but, will it hurt my fish, and what all do i need? just the bubble wall, air pump, and hose? it said the wall comes with a antisiphon valve.

It sounds like you are set up! And don't worry, it will not harm your fish. In fact i have a few cichlids and they enjoy swimming through the bubbles! Here are some setup instructions if they are needed.

1. Attach one end of the hose to the bubble wall
2. Bury the bubble wall under a 1/2 inch - 1 inch of rock
3. Water will not siphon out because of your 'anit-siphone valve' so attach the other end of the hose to your air pump.
4. Plug in the air pump
5. Watch your cichlids have fun!

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions contact me.

Nope, it won't hurt the fish a bit and will oxygenate the water a bit more. Go for it if you want it. It sounds like you have everything you'll need. I know my fish like to occasionally go "surfing" through the bubbles made by the airstone in my tank and they are just little things, so your cichlids may very well enjoy it.

It will not hurt your fish if anything the extra surface agitation will probably help the fish breath better especially if your water is really warm or when ever you put in any medications warm water and med make it more difficult for the fish to breath so you'll get a better looking tank and the fish will get water that is better for them and probably more fun ( lots of fish love to play in the bubbles)

Dont worry your fine! I have a 50 gallon filter and a bubble wall and my fish are doing fine. They actually seem more active now and it makes the tank look much prettier! It wont harm them in any way.
