Somebody do find them scary. It just depend individually on how you look at them.. Some may thing they are scary because you do not know who is behind the mask which is smiling at you. Or some find it just somebody in it, nothing special, someone working for money. Or some may think that he's a sad person although he always has a smiling face.. It's just depends. But actually they are nothing to scare of. If you really want to overcome this. Try to become a clown. If you can do this, you can make fun with clowns in future.. :)

you know, I've heard that, that so many people are terrified of clowns, and I remember I was as a kid, and I think it was because they looked so weird (everything on them was so exaggeraged and they didn't look like anything familiar to me). As I grew up I realized that they resembled poor people as a lot I saw were "hobo clowns" and so I began to feel sorry for them. Then as I watched tv, Red Skelton, a comedian who used to come out on stage dressed up in a clown outfit, well he was hilariously funny, and so his humor and clothing mixed well for me, and that stopped my fear of clowns.

"Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. It is not uncommon among children, but is also sometimes found in teenagers and adults as well. Sufferers sometimes acquire a fear of clowns after having a bad experience with one personally, or seeing a sinister portrayal of one in the media." *

I saw that horror movie years ago with the clowns in it that kill people, and ever since then I am terrified of them. I hate them and you don't know what they are hiding behind that creepy mask of theirs. So yeah I am a little fearful of them....
