I asked this question the other day, but I was hoping for more responses.

Anyway, here goes..

I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and the last 3 or 4 days have been hell, My groin area is really sore, it hurts to walk, I can't lift my legs very high without pain, and at night I can't even roll over without being in lots of pain.

I'm aware that the ligaments and bones in the pelvis are stretching, but this is my second and although I was a little stiff with him towards the end, it was nothign like this. Also I'm a little swollen in that area as well.

I have a doctors appointment on friday, but I would like peoples opinions please.

I had that problem with my last pregnancy earlier this year, except for the swelling. I'm not sure what you mean by "that area", so I'm going to assume you mean the gentiles.

Some swelling is normal, as my doctor told me just 3 months ago, your have a lot of blood going down to the uterus and that's going to cause swelling. If it get's to the "it gets rubbed raw when I walk" explosive kind of swelling go to the doc asap.

As for the pain in the groin, difficulty lifting your legs, and inability to roll over. It sounds like that baby has/is hitting, or is resting on, the snyactic(Sp?) nerve that runs through your hips down to your legs. My last child was practically camped there, and once I got into a "comfortable" position at night, if I moved, the pain would wake me up crying. I would also loose control of my legs when the baby moved because the movement would pinch off that nerve and I'd loose all feeling for a moment as if I had a spinal block.

If your worried, talk to your doc. If the baby stops moving normally, your get a suddenly high fever(101 or above), or firm hard contractions, go the ER.

I agree with it being NORMAL to a point. I had that with my 3rd baby it started after my 30th week and the pain was horrible. If I even sat wrong I thought I would scream. I think we carry babies different then each one we have. One thing I would find out when you go is if you have a urine trac infection of some kind. I know here they take a sample every visit. Also the swelling part you talked about concerns me. I also had a little swelling there but it went away. Do you feel hot there like someone has a heating pad there and won't move it?? If so try to get in earlier just to becareful.. Good luck hun and we will pray for it to be normal for you.. Lots of love your way

It sounds like sciatica, and it can get worse. I have heard of some poor women who get it so bad they use crutches and in one case, a wheelchair to get around. I hope that is not hte case for you

The one time I had it, was with my 2nd baby, who was a very big boy (10 pds 11 ozs) I went 2 weeks late and the pain was so unbearable I just sat and cried at the docs, they put me through to a physio who gave me a support belt, which I wish I had asked for much eariler, it helped alot, though it was a bit uncomfy . it didnt make the pain magically disapear but it did help.
in the end though the only thing that made it go away completely was the birth of my heffalump. a few days after his birth I suddenly realised the pain was gone!!

Goodluck, talk to your doc on friday and tell them exactly how the pain is (dont try and be a martyr and make out its not so bad, until you cant put it off anylonger as I did!!)

Move your appointment up as soon as possible. I had the same thing and went into premature labor because when I asked to be seen the nurse kept telling me that it is normal and different with every baby.

You may have nothing wrong but you might and you baby is worth you insisting on being seen. The stress that this worry alone is causing you isn't good for you or the baby. Go see your Doctor tomorrow and be pleased when he says there is nothing you can do but Tylenol.

Good luck!!!!!!!!

To help answer your question...remember that every pregnancy is different and you can't base one experience off of another. Maybe if you can take a prenatal yoga class, that may help with stretching out the ligaments and muscles plus help you relax. Check it out and ask your doctor too!

hmm, is your skin sore? Could be a yeast infection. I had that.. but you seem to be complaining of bone pain.. more than external pain? A bladder infection causes cramps, and also a pressure down there, like the baby has dropped and it has gone all wrong. Those are my ideas. Maybe the baby has dropped as well. Those are 3 opinions of mine.

It sounds a lot like round ligament pain and that your baby is bumping and maybe compressing your soft tissues. It just means your ligaments and muscles are streched out already, and the baby has decended down easier (and further) than your first. You may be expecting sooner than you think!!
Congratulations!!
