The Libertarian platform is in its essense, a strict interpretataion of the Constitution with a view that if its not in the document its not the governments to do.

The Republicans largely share that spirit, but to compete in the two party system, you need to be able to win a majority. The course the Libertarians propose isn't politically achievable.

The Democrats will always push for more government power and scope. The may want less military, but they more than make up for what they would cut there for what they would add elsewhere if they had their wishes.

Of the two main parties: Traditionally Republicans want less and Democrats want more. There are, however, probably hundreds of political parties; For example Libertarian and Green. I'm not sure of the others.

The Libertarian and Constitution parties are for less government.

Both Democrats and the Neo-conservatives (current republicans) are for bigger government, just in different ways. Old-school conservatives are for less government, but there doesn't appear to many of those around anymore.

Based on historical trend and party philosophy, the Republican party wants less government interventions. However, the current far-left administration is deviating from that trend by enacting the Patriot Act and engaging in eavesdropping. Despite the current administration's actions, the Republican party still wants less government interventions compared to other major parties.

Both parties want less government interference in what they want to be able to do and more government interference in what they want to stop others from doing or force others to do.

Yes, I do. Vote out the Liberals and Neo-Cons, they're both the same. Vote in a real conservative or a Libertarian. We're not all easily corrupted.
