i just reformatted my laptop and i tried to configure my internet but it wont work.
i cant connect to the internet because when i try to join my connection i have to type in my network key.
i type it in twice and an error keeps coming up.
i dont know what to do .
please help

I would hae to say that you are not typing it in as it is in the router. It has to be exactly the same and is case sensitive. Try going back into the router and redoing the key just to make sure you have it right.

Also there are some incompatibilities between different poeces of equipment sometimes. Sometimes the wireless adapter will not work with WAP-PSK while the router will or vice-versa. Try using WEP and see if that fixes the problem.

If you are certain you are typing it correctly, make sure that:
1) you selected the correct encryption type (probably WEP-128, but basically it should be the same);
2) you are entering either the passphrase or the hex digits, and the connection on both sides thinks the same thing;
3) for WEP, you are using the correct key number on both sides (probably 1).

These are actually in reverse order of the number of times I've done each one, so you might want to work up. =)

Windows tries to take care of all this for you, but it is not always successful. You can manually edit the settings for a connection from the list of available wireless connections.
