Goldfish will tolerate a range from 50-90F with no serious problems. If you get outside that range for long periods of time a heater or some extra air conditioning may be needed. For short periods they can tolerate down into the 30's or as high as 100F.

Water temp for a goldfish is 62 - 72 degrees F although they can survive outside of that range and some people maintain that their goldfish are more active when kept at a constant of 74.

Goldfish are fine at room temperature unless you like it at 50 degrees.

GoldFish do not need a heater being in a tank.
They are not tropical fish.
I have acouple huge goldfish in a 55 gallon tank with a filter and they are fine.

depends what room temp is! do some research and find out what temp they should be in... if your water is too cold then get a heater, but if its warm enough then dont get one.
