Hey guys, I just want to get some things clear that have been on my mind. I'm currently 16. My birthday is October, 8th 1990. I will be 18 years old by the time of the 08' elections, but people have told me that since it is cutting it so close I won't be able to register. Now this would crush me, because I am very into politics and take a great interest in the future of my country. I'm a moderate guy...I guess I lean a bit towards the right overall....not that that's important to the question. So does anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance!

You are cutting it close but you might be ok. Check with your local voter registration office. It would depend on their cutoff date. Here's a website to complete your registration form online and then print to mail in: https://ssl.capwiz.com/congressorg/e4/nvra/. You can find the rules for your state there as well (select register and your state and then requirements). Good luck.

Ask at your town hall where you live. It actually depends on the state you live in. Generally, you must be registered by no less than 30 days before an election - so, if you are 18 y.o. 30 days before the general election, make sure you are registering at your town hall.

Glad to know that voting matters to you!

There are laws regulating the age of voting. Check them out via websites for your state and the federal government. I do believe there are cutoffs for when you can register and how many weeks ahead of an election you have to register but just check with your local election board.

On your 18th birthday you can register to vote. You can do this online now usually (at least I can in my county). Might be faster to do it that way, then you'd be able to vote in the election. Congrats on your first election, I remember what a thrill it was to vote in mine. =)

Call your local DMVs office to find out if you can vote or not- next year. You SHOULD be able to if you register near your birthday- but call them to make sure.

so far it is the two Mike Huckabee or Fred Thompson. i'm exceedingly confident neither would be there interior the final election, yet i visit then be balloting for all of us different than those goofy democratic techniques.
