I thought about the meaning of love.
Theories that it is just this dependancy...
But is it possible that it is the higher being or force that connects us is actually love??

Think about it this way....

That little starving kid in Africa that you think almost no one knows.

You love someone...
That loves someone else...
That loves someone else...
That loves someone else, and this could go on like A MILLION times but eventually the line will end.

That person you love started a line of many people, and atleast ONE of those people love that starving kid in Africa.

Get what I am saying?

-SARUKO-

p.s. That's just my take.

Well Ronin, I never said that it wasn't a possibility.

After answering another persons question like this I took it into consideration.

Never said that any other emotion could be the same.
Its a definate possibility.
What if all emotions were our binding force?

Okay, first of all, take away all the "God" answers, because God wants us to think for ourselves. OK! Second of all...your paragraphs have nothing to do with a theory. It just sounds like drivel. So here goes my theory (drivel.) Enjoy.

I think that the biggest misconception about "LOVE' is this: Does it even exist? I mean think about it...what is "love" really? Can it not be determined by ones own belief? Has not love been at the root of many negative things in this world? Also, who was the first person to call "love" "love?" Can it not be said that throughout time the emotion that we know as love has been thwarted and pounded into our hearts and minds? So who can really tell you what "love" is. One thing I do know is that to love ones' self is the MOST IMPORTANT kind of "love" out there, and it is probably the most rarest form, which is why love has been given a bad name. :-)

So...maybe some have become dependent on the misconceptions of love, hate, religion, politics, etc...and this is our downfall. Either way, that kid in Africa is still starving...theoretically speaking.

Doesn't do much for me to be honest. There are PLENTY of people out there that hate, or are indifferent.

And I have no real connection whatsoever to that person in Africa. My life can be great or horrendous completely separate from people even down the street.

In fact, about 10 minutes from my neighborhood is one where people are shot almost every day. It affects me not in the least.

Love is simply an emotion, like anger, fear, jealousy, lust, etc... Why aren't any of them the binding force you discuss?

I think this is a very possible theory. Other emotions can definitely be linked this way also. It is kind of like the 6th degree of seperation theory. Everyone on the planet is seperated by 6 people, give or take a few.

well, it is a beautiful thought, but i notice a small flow. it just seems too simple to be true.
unfortunately love as it exists today, amongst us, is almost always not a pure, true love. our love is often weighed down by passions of the lower vital, and even motherly love, the purest form of love known to mankind, has a trace of possessivness.
shouldn't the sole aim of love would be to love, and seek not anything in return?
if this were only so, your theory might solve many problems in this chaotic world. but as things stand, unfortunate as they are, i don't see how it can happen!

nevertheless, a beautiful thought.

I like your theory, but I believe that that love starts with God and radiates out. The problem with that network is that some do not accept their connection in this network of love. We are to love others because God loves us, and, as you theorize, the love goes on and on.

This strikes me as a false construction. Your emotions are internal. My emotions are internal. they have not substance, no form, they do not conform to any physical laws, they lack height, weight and depth, they are not three dimentional.

One imaginary thing binding to another imaginary thing by imaginary bonds.

Love does spread from one person to another, and it grows into communities of families so close. Love is the glue that holds us all together.

We're all are connecting to each other in one way or another...I'd like to think "love" is one of our common elements.

A theory has to be short and concise. This is not.
