Our A/C keeps shutting off. We got a new outside unit put in a year ago. The inside unit is probably 10 years old or more. The outside unit runs fine, but air does not blow out of the vents. We have to turn off the thermostat, restart the thermostat and it will restart, then kick off in 5 minutes. Any clue what I need to do? Thanks in advance.

Air should be blowing out of vents. I didn't understand if that portion was the inside vents or on the outside blower, but the problem is definitely related to that. Call a certified HVAC guy and they'll fix you up after a quick consult I'm sure.

The t-stat might be the culprit-it's better to have a digital, non-mercury stat.

The unit may be locking out on thermal overload which means the motor for the indoor fan is getting too hot. If your filters werent kept clean, the dust and dirt may have gotten into the motor and helped to fry it.

Those are the only scenarios that make sense with your symptoms

1) Let There Be Rock 2) High Voltage 3) Highway to Hell As you can see I prefer Bon Scott on vocals. Here's my top 3 with Brian Johnson: 1) Back in Black 2) The Razor's Edge 3) Ballbreaker

Sounds like our air conditioner. Low on freeon or however you spell it. We've been lucky the past couple of days. If it's going off; we haven't noticed it. But earlier this week, it was unbearable. Only been a couple of years since we had the air conditioner worked on. I keep telling my husband that the next time it happens I'm going to go sit in my car where I know that I can trust the air conditioner not to cut off.

have you changed your filters or is the return restricted in any way? Your coils could be freezing over because of the restricted return (if that is the case) and over working the unit.
