(14th) 15th and 16th centuries.
15th century is 1401-1500
16th century is 1501-1600
There was no year "zero", so the first century was 1 A.D. to 100 A.D, the second century was 101 - 200, etc. So actually, the year 1400 is in the 14th Century.

It IS in fact the 15th-16th centuries (17th would start the following year of 1601), and not the 13th-15th. These centuries encompass the period known as the Renaissance in European history.

It would be the 13th to the 15th. For example, we are now in the 21st century, it is 2007; I was born in 1963, that was the 20th century. Hope this helps!
