Biotechnology CAN pay good, but the big pay check is not guaranteed and bases largely on your school. If you are after the big pay check, you must get a degree from a top notch university (Penn, Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, etc).

You're asking the wrong question.
Although the pay IS good, the only way you stand a chance to get a job is if you are totally committed to biology, technology, biotechnology, chemistry, staying up all night and similar activities.
People in that field have a passion for it, and if you're in it for the money they will smell the fake odor a mile away . . .
Why not try entrepreneurship if you're concerned about the money?
