I agree with WWD. Carry your ballroom shoes in a shoe bag and wear sneakers while you are on the street before you arrive.

It really depends on whether there are wet floors anywhere in both the restaurant and the bathrooms. If you get suede soles wet, you may have to work with rehabilitating them over a period of up to 4 or 5 days. I got a soles wet in Washington, DC where people had spilled a lot of beer on the floor. After I returned home, I put the shoes in a pair of shoe trees (I suppose you could stuff the foot with newspaper as an alternative), and I gave a preliminary wire brushing. Then, every day thereafter for a few days, I gave the soles a wire brushing.

That's why they have shoe bags. Wear street shoes and carry the ballroom shoes. You may get a few odd looks changing shoes in the restaurant, but it'll save you a lot of grief. You might get by with minimal damage, but why take the chance?
And if you're worried about somebody stealing the street shoes while you're dancing, if that's a concern it's probably not a place you want to go, anyway.

Yes, please carry your ballroom shoes in your dance bag. You don't have to compromise your outfit by wearing sneakers to the restaurant. Just change your shoes in the restroom, put your street shoes in your dance bag until you're ready to leave, and you're all set.
