for the swiss family robinson.....what island were they on?

In the movie, the Robinsons were a family fleeing their home in Switzerland to escape from Napoleon. They boarded a ship going to NEW GUINEA in the South Pacific Ocean, but a storm caused the ship to sink--leaving only this family as survivors. They build a raft, and end up on a deserted island between SINGAPORE and SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. I don't think the island's actual name was ever mentioned.
