I was told they speak Gailc but i dont know any, could you help me with some helpful phrases??

Everyone speaks English (it's their main language), you won't have any problem getting around.

They speak English but often the Irish accent is so thick that you'd think it was a different language. Don't feel bad if you have to ask someone to repeat what they've just said, slowly.

Everyone speaks English. Some areas are known as gaeltachs, and many people in those areas speak Irish Gaelic in addition to English. You will sometimes see signs in both Irish and English.
