Well Title 26 of the US Code says you have to pay income tax.

Just ask the guy who won survivor what happens if you don't pay.

That or (1) go to jail if you're caught,
(2) "force" our legislators to get rid of the tax in exchange for the "fair tax" or a national sales tax that exempts (a) primary residence and all maintenance costs related to that structure (b) all health costs - medicine, insurance, doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, etc (c) all food items for home use - ie not restaurants (d) the first 25k on an auto every year - annually adjusted.

This would eliminate the IRS, probably accountants and CPAs. It would be an easy tax to collect and inexpensive tax to collect. We'd save billions. Those without alot of money are "covered" through those exemptions.

Sorry ...I went beyond the question, but the income tax really is outrageous in concept and implementation.

Fortunately I make so much money I can afford the best tax attorneys and CPAs and so I don't pay a dime. :-)

(Small joke that makes another point)

Yes.

We, the people, unequivocally gave the government the right to tax our income with the 16th amendment to the constitution in 1913. It was ratified by 38 out of 41 states. CT, RT and UT rejected it.

That is a higher percentage of states than which signed the 15th amendment, giving Black men the right to vote.

BTW, if you don't like taxes, you are welcome to look into which countries have a lower tax burden than the US and tell me if you would want to live there.

I pay them.

Why?

Well, I figure if I would like to be able to utilize any of the government funded supplementary programs out there (in the event they are needed), I should do my part and pay into them. So if people don't pay their income taxes, then I don't think they have a right to claim unemployment, social security, or welfare. And they have no right to utilize the medicare/medicade programs either.

So if you would like to stick to your guns and state the demanding income tax payments is unconstitutional, and there is no law stating that you have to pay income taxes, fine by me. But don't even attempt to use ANYTHING that gets a dime from income taxes that are collected.

No, you don't have to pay your income tax. You may even get away with it for a few years. I will warn you though, when you get caught (and you WILL get caught), the I.R.S. will ruin your life! You will welcome the prison sentence you get, just to get rid of the I.R.S. for a while. But when you get out of FEDERAL PRISON (which has no parole system OR conjugal visits) the I.R.S. will be waiting for you to resume making your life miserable. It isn't worth not paying. If you want to make a difference with this unfair income tax system, become a politician and try to reform the tax laws.
